THE LEGAL STUFF....

Royalty Fees Explained

A royalty fee is an ongoing payment made by a franchisee to the franchisor.  It's essentially a fee for the continued use of the franchisor's brand, systems, training, and ongoing support. Unlike the one-time franchise fee, royalties are paid regularly throughout the term of the franchise agreement. They represent a continuous sharing of the success generated through the franchisor's established business model.

For Cocktail Queen franchisees, the royalty structure is designed to be supportive and scalable, varying based on the chosen territory.

  • Territories with a $4,000 franchise fee: A flat monthly royalty of $400 is payable when total revenue is $6,000 or less per month. If monthly revenue exceeds $6,001, a 7% royalty fee is applied.

  • Territories with a $5,000 franchise fee: A flat monthly royalty of $450 is payable when total revenue is $6,500 or less per month. If monthly revenue exceeds $6,501, a 7% royalty fee is applied.

  • Territories with a $6,000 franchise fee: A flat monthly royalty of $500 is payable when total revenue is $7,000 or less per month. If monthly revenue exceeds $7,001, a 7% royalty fee is applied.

Royalty payments are due at the end of each calendar month.

Why pay a royalty fee?

Consider the alternative: starting a business from scratch. You'd be responsible for developing your brand, creating operational systems, building a customer base, and handling all marketing. This requires significant investment, time, and carries a high risk of failure. By paying royalties as a Cocktail Queen franchisee, you gain access to a proven business model, established brand recognition, ongoing support, and a network of fellow franchisees. This significantly reduces the risks associated with starting a business independently and provides a solid foundation for success. The royalty fee is an investment in the continued support and resources that help you grow your Cocktail Queen business.

MARKETING REQUIREMENTS

Boosting your Bix with Marketing Must-Do's for Franchise Success!

As a Cocktail Queen franchisee, robust marketing efforts are pivotal to your business success. Each franchisee will benefit from our comprehensive online marketing and promotion course provided by The Cocktail Queen Hospitality College and our onsite college training. This training ensures you have the skills and knowledge needed to effectively promote your business.

We also operate a national marketing fund which requires a monthly fee of $200 to $400 (plus GST) from each franchisee (dependent on Territory Tier Size). This marketing fund is a collective pool of resources utilized to promote the Cocktail Queen brand on a national level, benefitting all franchisees through coordinated campaigns and brand recognition efforts.

In addition to the national efforts, franchisees are required to invest a minimum of $250 per month on local marketing activities. This local investment includes regular weekly posts on social media platforms, including LinkedIn profiles, to maintain an active and engaging online presence. Active participation in community engagement through sponsorships or events is also essential, as it helps establish a local footprint and fosters relationships with potential clients. Monthly email blasts and diligent maintenance of your customer database will ensure consistent communication with both existing and prospective clients.

Effective marketing is crucial as it not only drives business growth and customer acquisition but also strengthens brand loyalty and market presence, ensuring long-term success.

In a franchise system like Cocktail Queen, a marketing fee is a mandatory contribution paid by each franchisee into a dedicated marketing fund. This fund is managed separately from the franchisor's general operating funds and is specifically earmarked for marketing and advertising activities that benefit the entire franchise network. This separation is crucial for transparency and ensures compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct and relevant laws, as it demonstrates that these funds are being used solely for the intended purpose of promoting the brand and supporting franchisees.

The ongoing $290 Web Administration Fee is payable monthly, at the same time as your royalty payments, ensuring seamless access to these vital business tools.

Security Fee

In franchising, a security deposit, sometimes called a security fee, is a sum of money paid by the franchisee to the franchisor as a form of guarantee. It acts as a safeguard for the franchisor against potential breaches of the franchise agreement by the franchisee. This could include things like unpaid fees, damage to equipment or premises, or failure to adhere to brand standards. The security deposit is typically refundable at the end of the franchise term, provided the franchisee has fulfilled all their obligations and hasn't caused any losses for the franchisor. It's important to understand that this deposit is separate from the franchise fee and other ongoing costs.

For Cocktail Queen franchisees, the security deposit is $3,000 and covers a three-year period. This deposit provides us with assurance that the terms of the franchise agreement will be upheld, while also giving you peace of mind knowing that it will be returned to you at the end of your initial term, assuming all contractual obligations have been met. It's a standard practice in franchising and helps protect both the franchisor and the franchisee.
